Country Focal Points

The second major decision of the Council was to begin with the implementation of the Country Focal Points (CFPs) as motivated in the concluding remarks of the 2002 conference. The person(s) appointed to manage the CFPs will act as the liaison between the country and the Council while acting in concert with other country members for the advancement of the Society's agenda. The Council will sppoint such a person(s), the soonest possible following the finalisation of the Society's membership database. In this regard, please follow the instructions on the membership registration form which will also require the submission of a short CV for the Council's background and information. The person(s) appointed to manage the CFPs and his/her/their details will appear on the website for the purpose of inter- and intra-country communication.

Responsibilities of CFP members

  • Network with other CFPs and Society members in all matters relating to the Society.
  • Mobilise and encourage other potential members to register as Society members.
  • Take a facilities/needs inventory (still to be specified) and liaise with the Council on the progress on all matters relating to the Society.
  • Keep the Council informed/updated on matters that may be of interest to the Society that are happening in the country.
  • Share any innovative ideas that may be of interest/benefit to the Society.
  • Implement any other activity approved by the Council, in consultation with the CFP.
