Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa

Mr. Afoakwa holds the M.Phil and B.Sc (Honours) degrees in Food Science from the University of Ghana. He also holds a postgraduate diploma in International Food Laws and Regulations from the Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan, USA.

In addition, he holds a Certificate in Quality Management Systems from the Wageningen University, the Netherlands. Mr Afoakwa is also a trained and a Licensed Food Auditor by the World Food Safety Organization, UK. Between 1997 and 2001, he worked as a Senior Research Officer on a USAID Project (Bean-Cowpea CRSP) at the University of Ghana and in January 2002, he was appointed as a Lecturer and Research Scientist in Food Science at the University of Ghana.

He has extensive relevant experience in Food Technology and International Food Laws and Regulations. He is a member of several professional bodies and has authored and co-authored over 50 scientific publications and presentations on food security, food processing, food chemistry and quality control.

In the pursuance of his duties as a Food Technologist, he has travelled to over 25 countries across the five continents around the globe. He is a Reviewer for three international journals including the African Journal of Food, Agriculture, Nutrition and Development, Journal of Food Engineering and the Journal of Food Composition and Analysis.

He has extensive experience in Food Technology and translates his research findings through process and product development into industrial productions. Presently, he is pursuing his PhD programme in Food Science at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland.
